How to fix warping brake rotors?
I've put 5 sets of rotors, 2 calipers, and mutiple pads on my 2000 Olds Alero and I'm still getting a warped front drivers side rotor. What is causing this?? The caliper and pad assembly which were gray now have a white tint to them...probably from over heating I'm guessing. Is there an issue with the master cylinder?
The site below explains how and why rotors warp. Binding caliper not applying equal pressure to both sides of the rotor. Thinner rotor discs will warp if they are hot and you hit a cool puddle of water. Disc brake rotors are thinner now than they used to be to save weight. Improper torquing of the wheel lug nuts - don't use an impact wrench.
I would put the master cylinder at the very bottom of the list.
