I just got a shelter dog BIG QUESTION?
so I already have a 2 year old choc lab shelter dog, zo, and I recently got another one he is a 3 year old yorkie, who has suffered abuse throughout his life, I am a very big animal lover, and spoil my dogs very much lol, grooming every 2 weeks, doggy daycare ect, my choc lab has become accustomed ot it and loves to sleep on my bed, but the new Yorkie will not sleep on my bed and won`t even sleep on his, he is very timid and hand shy, what can I do I Want him ot feel like part of the family, oh also I don`t have kids, Only a boyfriend who loves animals as much as I do and has the same concerns,.lol my big concern is I want him on the bed, I feel so bad when he see`s all of us on the bed and him on the floor, but when I put him on the bed he whimpers pees jumps down and cowers what should I do
Oh if anyone is wondering, Zo and Rondo our yorkie get aalong fine it`s just I want him to feel liek part of the family not just with Zo
Well all dogs need to be walked no matter what. You should walk your dog and make sure you are always in the front or next to the dog, never behind. That's one of the best ways to bond with your dog.
Don't get all "Cutesy" with the dog when he is timid acting or shy acting or else your just praising him for the behavior. Walk him. Work on training as well. Praise him when he does what you would like of him and just ignore him when he is acting any other way.
