Master Cylinder Line
anybody know much about changing out the master cylinder in my 1974 vw beetle?
i changed the master cylinder in my 74 beetle and now when i try bleeding out the brakes it seems near impossible to get out all the air in the lines and the brakes now seem VERYYY spongey... and i find myself having to pump my brakes every time a stop is coming up and it is pretty dangerous to be driving around like this! is there a certain technique i should be using to bleed out the brakes successfully or what...?

My guess is that you did not bleed out the master cylinder BEFORE you installed it. Those things hold a LOT of air.
If this is the case,
Because they are easy to put on or take off, I would suggest removing it and starting over a bit.
Cap all of the exit lines, but the cylinder in a vise or clamp and add fluid. THen gently but fully pump the cylinder to get the air to bubble up out of the reserve. Keep doing it until only fluid comes back.
THEN mount the cylinder .. remove one plug and attach the brake line to it. The rear passenger is a good choice since that is the longest line. Open up the brake bleed screw at that wheel and pump the brakes until you get all the air out of the line. Use a rubber hose over the bleed screw and a glass or a can to collect the fluid. Make sure the end of the hose is IN and BELOW the level of fluid in the glass/can so that it can not suck air back in.
Repeat this process for each of the remaining four wheels making sure each time that you do not allow the fluid in the master cylinder to leak out when you attach the line to the cylinder block.
When you finish with the fourth, you should have a nice tight brake line system.
