Motorcycle/scooter or keep the car?
I have been really considering getting a motorcycle or a scooter lately. I feel like this is my only time in my life where I will get the chance since I intend to not ride once I have kids (dangerous of course). I live in Santa Barbara, CA where I will soon be going to UCSB where it's pretty much always at least temperate. It was raining quite a bit a few weeks ago though.
I currenly own a car which I'm considering selling, because I can't see how I can own a car and a bike. If I use the bike, then my car sits and rots, plus I still have to pay $100/month for the insurance. Any thoughts here?
I am trying to weigh the pros and cons of having a bike. No cargo space, no shelter from the elements, but tons of fun and very economical.

A scooter is way cheap and get's great mph. But it can't go on the freeway and I can't ride it to my parents' house 3 hours away.
The solution is rather clear. Get the scooter and keep the car. Use the scooter for local commutes (such as to school) and use the car for bad weather and trips that are longer, such as to your parent's house
Drive the car once a week or so, and you do not have to worry about it rotting!.
