I am trying to start my toyota and need to put the number 1 piston top dead center. Does anyone know?
I am told the car's engine should have the number 1 piston in TDC. How hard or does anyone know how I can get this piston in its compression stroke? I will take all answers, I am having a heck of a time getting this car in time. I have done all except use a wrench to move the flywheel and push the car while in gear. I have tried checking the rotor on the distributor for its positioning. I need a sure fire way to get this done. Thanks in advance! 
Sorry about that it's a 1984 toyota tercel, 3AC engine/1.5 liter. This car has a carburetor and a distributor.
Pull number 1 plug on the harmonic balancer it has tdc market with
white chauk.put on the timing market remove cap make sure that rotor is pointing to number one wire on distributor cap. Then take a screw drive in number 1 and move the motor back and fourth you should be able to fell piston reach top dead center
