Tape Stripes Fit
Sewing... can I get some ideas?
I have a yellow and white tiny striped fabric that I wanted to make a tank top with and use bias tape for the neckline, around arms, and straps. But, the material doesnt have a stretch to it at all. How could I make this so it fits, but I can still get it over my head and shoulders? Any ideas?
And, I have a couple yards of dark purple knit fabric. Enough to make a dress.... any pictures or suggestions for plain colored knit fabric?

Knits really need to be made from a pattern designed for knits. Since I don't know what your style is, perhaps something like: http://www.kwiksew.com/Catalog/cat_detail.cfm?pid=3778&Cat=Misses&Level=Dresses&QL=MissDress
The best constructed of the easily available patterns right now are probably Burda, KwikSew, Jalie and Connie Crawford's patterns for Butterick. Burda, Ottobre, Patrones and Ms Stylebook are all good magazines with patterns in them, but they're harder to locate, and sometimes difficult to follow if you're not sure of your sewing skills.
